My assigned macros are not working in a game other than World of Warcraft, how can I get them to work?
First, please keep in mind that the preset macros and created in conjunction with the World of Warcraft ingame defaults so the inputs may differ for other games. Please make sure to create your own custom macros for the game that correspond to the ingame default button assignments.
If you have assigned the macros accordingly and they still do not work, the World of Warcraft Cataclysm mouse has a workaround:
1) Create your profile using only 'record delay' or 'no delay' macros
2) Save the profile to onboard memory and set it as the active profile.
3) Uninstall the SteelSeries WoW mouse driver via control panel -> programs & features.
4) Restart your computer and use the mouse without the WoW mouse driver. The profile should still be stored on board and should work this way.
Basically this causes macros to work on the firmware level. This process bypasses any kernel mode keymapping which is common with some games, especially those that utilize the 'DirectInput' portion of DirectX. Because kernel mode keymapping works on a lower level than the user mode WoW mouse drivers, that keymapping basically overrides the WoW mouse software.
You can always reinstall to change binds, unfortunately this is the only way to go with some games.
