My mouse is not working and the light below the scroll wheel is blinking repeatedly, how can I fix it?
This is caused by a failed firmware upgrade which can happen for various reasons within the system itself, but it can be repaired in nearly all cases.
Try the steps below to repair your mouse, if they still do not work, please contact our support team for further assistance.
1) Ensure you are using the latest SteelSeries Engine version. This can be checked by right clicking the SteelSeries icon and selecting 'about' (bottom right in taskbar in Windows, on the main application bar on Mac OSX). Please compare this to the latest version available at: http://www.steelseries.com/downloads
2) Navigate to control panel -> power options (make
sure the Control Panel window is set to large icon view in the top
right of the window)
High Performance should always be used when using SteelSeries USB devices
3) Click on ‘change plan settings’ on the right side, next to High Performance
4) Under the ‘Put the Computer to Sleep’ dropdown box, select Never
5) Click on ‘Change advanced power settings’ – it will bring up
the menu below. From there, expand the USB Settings section, expand the
USB selective suspend setting, and select DISABLED. Hit apply and OK.
a. Open op the device manager.
b. Uncollapse “Universal Serial Bus controllers” (USB Controller)
c. Select one of the USB Root Hubs, right-click on it and click on “Properties”.
d. Go to the tab “Power Management“
Uncheck the option “Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power“
e. Repeat c. and d. for each USB Root hub
7) Registry tweak: Enable “DisableSelectiveSuspend” in Windows 7

8) Quit SteelSeries Engine. There is a quit feature on newer versions if you right click the SteelSeries icon as described in step 1.
If not, kill the SteelSeries engine process (steps below for Windows)
a) ctrl-alt-del -> processes tab
b) Find SteelSeriesEngine.exe and select 'end process'
9) Use the SteelSeries firmware repair tool / SSEfix to try to upgrade your firmware.
Note: On Windows, but sure to run as administrator.
Right click the repair tool -> run as administrator -> run the fix for your particular product
10) If it still fails, please install the product on another computer and then try installing the latest version of SteelSeries Engine on that computer to run a firmware upgrade.
